The project shifting values explores an inbetween moment of the craft of basket weaving and an idea of repairing. The focus lays on broken furniture pieces, in this case three different chairs, to show what is possible when adding structure to add more or new value and repair the missing / broken pieces.

This used Monobloc was sould on ebay for around 5€ and had a crack in one of the legs.
Using the rattan cane like using a thread while mending a textile, the leg was sewn on to the chair again to give it back its purpose and stability.

This fake Freischwinger had some issues with the seating surface as well as the back rest. Both of them were cracking or already loose because of use and the use of material (plastic) for those areas. This problem is still visible on the right side of the seat.
The woven structures work like mending. Holding together the chair, giving it a visible change and giving back the purpose and function to the chair.

The structure comes from a found buttom part of a chair (only the legs, mended together).
The approach was is to create a seating “cussion” again.
